Daniel Clowes

Self-portrait, © Daniel ClowesBorn in 1961, in Chicago USA, Daniel Gillespie Clowes is a true genius of the alternative comic books scene. He is an author, screenwriter and cartoonist.
In 1979, after finishing high school, he attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, one of the leading art schools in the United States. In his early career years, he failed to find a position as Illustrator in New York. He contributed in the second half of the 80’s to Cracked magazine, one of the oldest American satire and humour magazines. In 1985, his works start also to be published by Fantagraphics. He now lives in Oakland, California with his family.

His bibliography includes the Eightball series, great satires of the American culture and societies, and Ghost World, a graphic novel about two sarcastic teenage girls that became really popular through a movie adaptation.
